Social work and end-of-life care

Social work is important in end-of-life care

Employer-led Skills for Care organisation should not be responsible for social workers’ codes of practice

The General Social Care Council has announced that as it’s closing down, it’s handing over the Codes of Practice for social workers to Skills for Care. As this is an employer-led organisation, I don’t think they should be responsible for setting the Code of Practice. There’s far too much incentive to water it down and kow-tow to employers’ interests. The Codes of Practice should be independently managed; they’re already pathetically in hock to employers’ interests as it is, rather than standing up for independent thinking by practitioners.
